Chalvey Sports have given themselves a huge boost in the battle against relegation from the East Berkshire League Premier Division after a 3-2 win over Pundit F.C on Saturday.
The Stabmonks and Pundit currently prop up the table and so whichever team won the derby match at the George Pitcher Memorial Ground in Burnham would gain the momentum as we head into Spring and the final third of the season.
Lewis Travers found a route to goal either side of the break, and Jamie Dobson struck the back of the net late in the second half to secure three valuable points for their side. Both Kingsley Etefia and Drew Scott were on target for Pundit.
The result means that bottom-of-the-table Chalvey are now just a point Pundit, with the team that props up the standings at the end of the season relegated to Division One. The Stabmonks also have a game-in-hand on Pundit and the two rivals will lock horns again at George Pitcher Memorial Ground this Saturday (2pm kick off).
Cookham Dean have climbed up into the top four in the Premier Division for the first time thanks to a 3-2 victory against Sandhurst Royals at the Alfred Major Recreation Ground.
Joshua Wright came off the substitutes bench to score twice in the second half for Cookham, the crucial winning goal coming in the final minute of the game.
Isaac Ababio bagged a brace for Sandhurst, continuing his own rich vein of form, but The Royals’ six-match winning streak is now over and they miss out on the chance to move to the top of the table.
A.F.C Reading backed up a big win in the League Cup competition last weekend to return to winning form in the Premier Division, beating F.C. Baylis United 2-0.
The goals came either side of the break from Mitchell Down and Josh Hester at the Iver Heath Recreation Ground.
The win means Reading solidify seventh place in the table, whilst F.C. Baylis head into the mid-season break for Ramadan in eighth position.
