OLD WINDSOR extended their unbeaten run in the East Berkshire League Premier Division to five matches after a 3-2 win against KS Gryf on Saturday. Writes Rob Stevens.
The defending champions were beaten at Slough Heating Laurencians A on the opening day of the season but have since improved to record three wins and two draws.
The goals came from Paul Munro, Ben Wilson and Brad Farren, plus a man-of-the-match performance by Rory Campbell.
The win moves Old Windsor up one place to second in the table and they could cut the gap on league leaders Britwell to two points with a victory at home to Slough Heating Laurencians A this Saturday (2pm).
EBFL Division One:
Iver Heath continue to hold a clear lead over the chasing pack in Division One following their 2-1 success against third-placed Stoke Poges Saints. It was a very competitive top-of-the-table clash between two well-matched sides that both created plenty of chances. Stoke Poges deserved a point but a missed penalty in the first half proved costly.
Townmead did the table toppers a favour when recovering from falling a goal behind to thrash Old Windsor Reserves 6-2. A poor second half display cost the visitors after being ahead at the break. Both Lewis Hewitt and Micky Williams found the back of the net for the losing side, with a star performance from Darragh Raymond the positive note.
Old Windsor were quick to put that defeat behind them when winning 4-0 at Stoke Poges on Wednesday evening, leapfrogging them to second place in the table but still four points behind Iver Heath.
EBFL Division Two:
AFC Cressex made it four consecutive wins in Division Two after a 2-0 victory at home against Eton Wick, maintaining their seven point lead at the top of the table. Cressex have scored 10 goals in that purple patch and without conceding.
Barton Rovers remain in second place with three games in hand on the top side after beating AFC Winkfield Reserves 4-1 at home, whilst Pundit are also still in the race for the title following a 5-0 success against Stoke Poges Saints Reserves. Connor Dobbyn and Bradley Hart were amongst the goals scorers for five-star Pundit.
The other game in the Division was a nine-goal thriller that saw FC Baylis United beat Chalvey Sports A 5-4. Chalvey were 4-2 ahead with 15 minutes still to play but were eventually beaten by a late fantastic strike. Both sides ended then match with 10-men as tempers flared late on.
EBFL Development Division:
Sandhurst Town Under 23s ensured Pinewood U23s Panthers would finish bottom of the Development Division with a 6-1 home win.
