KS Gryf have continued with their revival in the New Year to climb out of the East Berkshire League Premier Division relegation zone.
The Polish Club managed only one win in the league during the first half of the season, but have registered back-to-back victories in January to move up to ninth place in the table.
Gryf won in an eight-goal thriller at A.F.C. Reading last weekend and backed up that success with a narrow 2-1 victory against F.C. Beaconsfield on Saturday. Emmanuel Adjei bagged a brace to secure his side the three valuable points at the Polish Association.
Curtis Tannis hit the back of the net for Beaconsfield but the visitors left empty-handed and are still rooted to the bottom of the Premier Division table. Beaconsfield are now seven points from safety but have played four fewer matches than the teams directly above them.
Chalvey Sports boosted their chances of avoiding relegation with a 3-2 win against Frontline, the visitors to George Pitcher Memorial Ground missing out on the chance to take second place in the table.
The Stabmonks were well beaten in the reverse fixture before the Winter Break, so this will give them some manner of revenge and leaves them just a point below the relegation line.
Zakaria Zaoui found a route to goal for Chalvey in the first period, and James Hepburn struck twice after the break to take the three points. Both Karim Chaibi and substitute Imran Kassim scored for Frontline, but their side have now suffered consecutive league defeats.
The race for promotion in Division One went up a notch on Saturday as Slough Heating Laurencians Reserves, Old Windsor Reserves and Hype Train all took advantage of the top two being out of action to close the gap at the top of the table.
Slough Heating are now only three points behind leaders F.C. Bracknell after their comfortable 10-1 success at second-bottom HKRG United. The Lauries have now won in all seven of their last league matches since a defeat at F.C. Bracknell back in September.
Jake Bone was the chief destroyer at Ryeish Green Sports Hub with his impressive four-goals haul. Craig Kelly bagged a hat-trick, and Luke Embers came off the substitutes bench to score twice. The scoring was completed by Alfie Jago.
The consolation effort from HKRG United came from Josiah Ma just past the hour mark.
Old Windsor Reserves made it four consecutive victories in the division with a comfortable 9-0 success at Taplow United Swans. The Os have now scored an incredible 29 goals in their last four league matches at an average of more than seven goals per-game.
The game was over as a contest before the break as goals from Carl Elcombe, Connor Clemens, Sean Blandford and Nathan McClean gave the visitors to Popes Field an insurmountable advantage.
Old Windsor did not relent in the second half as both Daniel Nicolaev and substitute Ollie Ellis hit the back of the net twice, before Mark Walker bagged a ninth team goal five minutes from the end.
Hype Train moved up one place to fifth position in the Division One table thanks to a 7-0 success away at Real Saracens. The Train ending a run of back-to-back defeats to record a first league win since October.
Both Emmanuel Cudjoe and Connor Anderson hit the back of the net in the first half at George Pitcher Memorial Ground in Burnham. The Train steamed ahead in the second period with both Phil Newport and substitute Luke Follington scoring twice. Anwar Mmanga came off the bench to complete the scoring with 15 minutes still to play.
After an impressive start to the season, Real Saracens are now winless in five league games, one draw and four defeats, and stand in eighth position in the table, six points behind the top half.
Bracknell Aces are improving from a mid-table position in Division One and made it three wins from four games with a 7-0 success at Eton Wick - The Wick missing out on the chance to move above The Aces in the table.
Both Abdulrasaq Aremu and Alfie Hills scored twice in the rout at Haywards Mead, with Lewis Lancaster, Harvey Redman and Pratik Pun all firing in too.
