F.C. Baylis United claimed bragging rights over their rivals Frontline after a 4-2 win in the East Berkshire League Premier Division on Saturday.
Baylis were promoted into the top flight in the summer having finished in fourth position in Division One last year, and this stoked the coals on a new rivalry to form.
Frontline are a giant in Slough-based football and came close to winning the Premier Division title last season, finishing runners-up to treble winners, Old Windsor.
Frontline would have been well aware of the capabilities of Baylis, a progressive team that caused a huge upset with a 2-1 win in the Quarter Finals of the League Cup competition back in the 2021-22 season.
The win means F.C. Baylis have moved up to fifth position in the league table and now just a single point behind Frontline, who have now lost three league games in a row for the first time since March 2023
Frontline will get the chance to take some revenge when the two rival clubs meet in a Showcase Match at the Arbour Park stadium in Slough in May.
Cookham Dean made it four consecutive home wins in the league with a narrow 1-0 victory against Chalvey Sports.
The Alfred Major Recreation Ground is becoming a fortress for Cookham, the team has not been beaten on home soil in the Premier Division since mid-September.
The only goal in the game came from substitute Sean Inkpen eight minutes from the final whistle, and his points-winning strike mean Cookham have climbed into the top half of the table for the first time this season.
The defeat means Chalvey Sports have failed to build on an impressive win against Frontline the previous weekend and leaves them still in the relegation zone, a single point behind Pundit. The Stabmonks have a crucial match away to bottom side F.C. Beaconsfield next Saturday.
Sandhurst Royals warmed up for their appearance in the Showcase Match event this Friday night with an impressive 5-2 win against Langley F.C. Reserves, the side that was successful in the first Showcase game this season.
The Royals can boast five different goals scorers in the success; Isaac Ababio, Thomas Nower, Harry Winkley, George Wilson and substitute Joshua Jaye. The Langley response came from George Flynn and Owen McCarthy.
The victory completes a hat-trick in the Premier Division for Sandhurst and moves them up to third position, level on points with defending champions, Old Windsor, albeit having played five games more. Langley drop out of the top half of the table and into seventh place.
There was just one match in Division One last weekend and Hype Train ended a run of back-to-back home defeats with a 3-1 victory against bottom side Barton Rovers.
A Lucas Coe goal gave The Train a slender advantage in the first half at Waingels College, but both Shay Edwards and Nadim Gharabli struck in quick succession after the break to secure all three points. The consolation goal for Barton came from Callum Rosier.
The win means Hype Train have closed the gap on the four promotion places to three points, and they have played at least one game fewer than the sides currently above them in the table.
