Sandhurst Royals have completed the double over Pundit F.C in the East Berkshire League Premier Division this season after an entertaining 6-3 win on Saturday.

The Royals were promoted in the summer having finished in third place in Division One last season, and the team has made a tremendous start in the top-flight to now be in a share of the lead at the top of the table.

Sandhurst have won in four of their first six matches in the Premier Division, scoring an impressive 18 times and at an average of four-and-half goals per game.

Their only defeats have, somewhat understandably, come against Old Windsor and Frontline, the teams that finished as champions and runners-up last season.

The visitors to George Pitcher Memorial Ground in Burnham made the perfect start to the game when Harry Winkley scored twice inside the first 15 minutes. Pundit halved the deficit thanks to a goal from Joshua Birtwistle midway through the first period.

The star of the game was Isaac Ababio who scored four times for Sandhurst in the second half to keep on pushing back a resilient home team and ensure The Royals left with all three points.

Pundit, to their credit, kept on trying to find a route back into the game and goals from Kingsley Etefia and substitute Tapuwa Matambanadzo gave them some hope of a comeback, but more mistakes in defence and from the goalkeeper did little to help their cause.

Sandhurst Royals are now level on points with both Britwell and Old Windsor at the top of the table, however they have played two more games than the two pre-season favourites.

Frontline missed out on a chance to take a share of the lead in the Premier Division after being held to a 1-1 draw by A.F.C Reading at Burnham Grammar School. Okba Bassaid struck for the title contenders, but a goal from Mitchell Dowson ensured Reading would travel back across Berkshire with a share of the spoils.

AF.C. Reading have also made an impressive start in the top-flight following promotion in the summer. The West Berkshire-based team has two wins and a draw in their first five matches and stand comfortably in a mid-table position.

F.C. Baylis United move up two places to fifth position in the league table thanks to a 3-0 success over Chalvey Sports at the Iver Heath Recreation Ground. The match was goalless after 55 minutes and until Lazarus Akunekwe broke the deadlock, with further goals from Saleh Saleh and Haris Farooq to secure maximum points.

Cookham Dean bagged their first win since returning to the East Berkshire League in the summer when beating F.C. Beaconsfield 4-1 at Wooburn Green Lane Field.

Sean Inkpen made a big difference with two first-half goals, with Simeon Broadbent also hitting the back of the net in the opening period and Daniel Abrahamson scoring the team’s fourth after the break.

The F.C. Beaconsfield goal came from Joshua Peck, but his team are stuck to the bottom of the table and still looking for a first point since joining the league this season.
