KS Gryf have recorded a first league win this season to move off the bottom of the East Berkshire League Premier Division table.

Gryf were competitive in two draws to get their campaign under way before conceding a total of 10 goals in consecutive defeats, leaving them propping up the table before Surrey Rangers came to visit the Polish Association on Saturday.

It was going to be a tense and close affair against fellow strugglers Surrey, who themselves have won just once in seven previous league matches, but two goals from Marius Stancescu and one by substitute Karol Derewenko secured three crucial points for the home team.

The win means Gryf are off the bottom of the table and up two places to sixth, leapfrogging Surrey and relegating Chalvey Sports Reserves to bottom.

Iver Heath made it back-to-back league wins with a 4-0 success at Chalvey Sports Reserves, all four goals coming in the second half at the Recreation Ground.

Stoke Poges maintained their perfect winning record in Division One after thumping bottom side Braywood Beavers 8-1 at Bells Hills Recreation Ground. The Poges have won all five of their league matches so far this season, scoring 30 goals and conceding just two, to stand in second position in the table and now just three points behind leaders Sandhurst Town.

Berks Elite have ended a run of four matches without a win with a 4-3 victory at home against AFC Reading, leaving them eight games without success in all competitions. The match included a brace for Nasser Southgate and a late effort from substitute Dequann Ebanks.

East Berkshire League member Clubs faced some stiff opposition in round two of the Charles Twelftree Trophy (County Cup) and so it proved with only Britwell moving into the next stage, awarded a walkover win over Chalvey Sports.

Division One leaders Sandhurst Town went down 6-0 at Kennington Athletic whilst Old Windsor conceded four goals at home in a 4-0 defeat to Finchampstead. Both Frontline and Southcote came closer to winning but, suffered narrow defeats, 2-1 to Kintbury Rangers and 3-2 to SB Phoenix respectively.
